The complete list of essentials for your diaper bag: never forget anything again!

Getting out of the house with a baby and forgetting nothing is an art form. So you're never caught short again, here's the complete list of essentials to keep in your changing bag — plus our tips for organising it all properly.

Choosing and organising your changing bag

It all starts with the bag. Go for one with several compartments and pockets so every category of kit has a place of its own. A few golden rules:

  • Keep the must-haves (nappies, wipes, dummy) within easy reach, in the outer pockets.
  • Gather all the skincare products into a dedicated toiletry bag.
  • Keep clean things apart from dirty ones, in separate pouches.

Our Noah changing bag was designed for exactly this, with 9 pockets and built-in pushchair clips. To go further, read how to organise your changing bag according to baby's age.

Toiletry bag essentials

  • Nappies (one per hour out, plus two spare)
  • Fragrance-free wipes
  • Nappy cream
  • Hand sanitiser
  • Nappy sacks for the rubbish

A dedicated toiletry bag keeps it all in one place, clean and easy to reach.

Feeding essentials

Depending on age: expressed breast milk or a made-up bottle, a formula dispenser, water, and once weaning starts, a small airtight pot and a soft-tipped spoon.

Comfort essentials

  • A complete change of clothes (bodysuit and socks)
  • A light blanket or a muslin square
  • A portable changing mat
  • A dummy or a small toy

The little extras that change everything

  • A health-record cover for medical appointments
  • A woolly hat or a sun hat, depending on the season
  • Something to keep you going too (water, a snack)

Frequently asked questions

What should you put in a changing bag?

The basics: nappies, wipes, nappy cream, a change of clothes, something to feed baby (a bottle or milk), a muslin square, a dummy and a portable changing mat. Add a health-record cover for appointments and a pouch to keep clean things apart from dirty ones.

How many nappies should you pack?

Allow one nappy per hour out, plus two spare. For half a day, 4 to 6 nappies will do.

Do you need to take everything on every outing?

No. For a short outing the basics are enough (nappies, wipes, a change of clothes, something to feed baby). You'll naturally pack lighter with experience.

In short

A well-organised bag means calmer outings. Build yours around a well-designed changing bag and its matching accessories. Wild chic, by Crocrobō Paris.
